Dr. Gilbert Akl was born September 16, 1981 in Montreal, Quebec. The youngest of three siblings, he was raised in the West Island, Montreal where there was many influences from English, French and other cultures. He was surrounded in a great multicultural environment where he made many childhood friends.
Most boys growing up want to become something exciting like a police officers, fireman or astronauts but at the age of six years old, Dr. Akl wanted to be a dentist.
Treating patients was a dream and it soon would be his passion.
Dr. Akl graduated from the University of Montreal in 2005 and furthered his studies, completing an AEGD post-doctorate program in New York.
He started his career in Montreal, then travelled across Canada offering dental care to communities in remote areas. In 2011, Dr. Akl joined Dr. Rachel Navaneelans’s practice.
Dr. Akl attends many workshops and course to keep up to date with the latest techniques to providing beautiful and lasting restorations.
Dr. Akl loves to travel and explore different countries and learn from different cultures. The way to Dr. Akl’s heart is through children, animals, and the environment.
He volunteers at the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (SPCA), fosters pets until they are adopted and rescued. Dr. Akl helped many abused pets from all over the world on his travels and have found loving homes for them in Canada.
Dr. Akl considers it an honour to be part of such a great cause like Rachel’s Kids, helping children in need is another passion that him and Dr. Rachel share.
Dr. Akl is very excited to be part of Dr. Rachel Navaneelan’s dental team who are highly skilled, motivated, compassionate and friendly group.
